Synopsis

When Hollywood actor Keaton Byrd needs a brand boost, the last thing Harriet Hadley thinks is that it will involve her. All she does is work in housekeeping in Sandly’s biggest hotel. Being asked to be his pretend girlfriend in exchange for a whole heap of money doesn’t exist, even in her wildest dreams. Can she really pull it off? Be the small-town girl who he needs to rebuild his image? It’s worth a try. What could go wrong?

Especially with Keaton’s right-hand man, Jude Jackson, always by her side, making sure she’s okay. He smells so good, just like the ocean she adores, and he looks like the men her sister Lexi puts on the front covers of her steamy romance novels. How is Harriet supposed to concentrate on being Keaton’s fake girlfriend when she can’t stop looking at Jude? The best part is, Jude is always looking back.

My Review of The Old Boat Clubhouse

I really love the writing style of K.T. Day – having already read and loved The Silver Blooms Flower Shop, I knew I was going to love The Old Boat Clubhouse just as much – and I wasn’t wrong. Part of the Pepper Bay Series, The Old Boat Clubhouse can be read as a standalone story but is best read as part of the series.

In this story, we follow the main character, Harriet, whose life as a hotel housekeeper gets tipped upside down when she is unexpectedly asked to pretend to be the girlfriend of one of Hollywood’s biggest actors Keaton Byrd. Keaton is in desperate need of a brand boost and thinks that Harriet is the perfect person to help him – even if he is willing to pay her a whole heap of money as well.

Deciding to go for it, Harriet goes along with playing the (fake) girlfriend of Keaton – what could go wrong? Especially when she has Jude right next to her at all times – Jude is Keaton’s right-hand man and helps guide Harriet through her role as fake girlfriend to a Hollywood actor. The problem for Harriet is trying to concentrate on being a fake girlfriend to one man when she is starting to develop feelings for another at the same time – that man being Jude. Does Jude feel the same, or is Harriet heading for a big fall?

The Old Boat Clubhouse is such a heartwarming story. With beautifully written characters and the incredible writing of K.T. Dady again makes this story another fantastic read from the Pepper Bay Series.
