Title: Spin the Bottle
Author: Isabella May
Genre: Romantic Comedy
My Rating: 5 out of 5
Synopsis
Celeste thought she had long forgotten the sweet, citrusy kiss she shared with Travis during a game of spin the bottle. Splitting her time between her accounts office in super Instagrammable Notting Hill, and her tiny apartment in quirky Exmouth Market, modern-day life is simply too busy for men. Besides, whenever she tries to find The One, it always ends in disaster. From Tinder tragedies to trampolining tribulations, Celeste is starting to think that she’s cursed.
But then Travis begins to pop up wherever she goes, and Celeste knows with stomach-sinking clarity that fate has finally caught up with them. Inspired by the idea of fake dating, Celeste is convinced the only way out of this mess is to call the curse’s bluff. But will Travis agree to it? And how can she manage not to fall in love?
My Review
You can always guarantee good fun and laughs with any book written by Isabella May. Having already read and loved Bubbegum and Blazers and The Wedding Cake, I knew I was going to love Spin the Bottle just as much – and I wasn’t wrong. This story focuses on main character, Celeste. She has a very busy and very fulfilling life, but has given up on looking for love – it just never seems to work out for her. That is, except for one very memorable kiss, with one very memorable guy.
That guy was Travis, that kiss was when they were 13 years old after a game of Spin the Botle. So why is Celeste seeing Travis everywhere she goes now? Is destiny catching up with Celeste after all these years, or are Travis and here just never meant to be – despite everything?
Spin the Bottle is such a fun and light-hearted read – exactly what I have come to expect from anything written by the author. Brilliantly written characters in both Celeste and Travis, as well as incredible locations of Gibraltar and London. A perfect summer read.
