Synopsis

With her ex and her kids away, a woman takes up running and meets a new man – but can they make it to the finish line?

Ten years after their divorce, this is the first time Hannah’s ex-husband has had the kids for more than a weekend. Her calendar is gloriously blank, ready to be filled with some self-care time.

That is, until Hannah’s BFFs push her to join a charity race for which she’ll need to start training – after all, she’s not doing anything else.

And her mum nags her to have Aunt Dorothy over for a visit.

So much for me-time…

However, Hannah’s not in tip-top shape, and running is a challenge to say the least. Maybe Gabe, the nice-looking personal trainer, can help with that? The more Hannah struggles, the more determined she becomes. But then Hannah is tripped up when she finds out Gabe has a shocking secret. Does this mean he’ll be out of the running for a place in her heart?

My Review

This is the second book I have read from this author, and I really loved this story. We are introduced to the main character Hannah. Excited by the fact that she gets a month to herself, Hannah makes a lot of plans to do, well, nothing – just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The twins are off on holiday with their Dad and his new girlfriend. Except it doesn’t work out quite as Hannah planned. Expecting to love the peace and quiet, nothing could be further from the truth and Hannah quickly starts to feel at a loss.

When Hannah meets up with her friends for drinks, they decide it would be great for them all to do something for charity. A race is not what Hannah had in mind – she isn’t a sporty type – but decides to give it a go, and starts a training plan. This is where she first meets Gabe – as they literally crash into each other.

What follows is Hannah enlisting Gabe as her PT and helping her get prepped for the charity race. The more time they spend together, the more we can see the chemistry between the two of them developing. But is Hannah ready to trust again after having her heart broken by her ex-husband? And what about Gabe and the mysterious Kate?

Love on the Run is such a sweet story, with characters that have some complex issues from their past relationships. There are some really funny moments within the story, as well as some quite challenging subjects that are tackled. A beautiful story that I would definitely recommend to anyone to read.
