If you are looking at changing up your bedroom, then you might want to take the opportunity to create the perfect bedroom! It’s not worth taking a little bit of time to make a few changes when you can just get everything out of the way right now.
You want to create a bedroom that is perfect for you so that you feel comfortable in there, but so that you also get a good night of sleep. This might feel like a massive challenge, but we’re sure that if you put your mind to it you can achieve the result you are hoping for.
In this post, I will be taking a look at some of the things that you need to know about how you can do this, so keep reading if you would like to find out more about this.

The Right Mattress
The first thing that we want you to think about is getting the right mattress. Some people prefer a firmer mattress, and others prefer something that is super soft. Then, of course, you have those who prefer it somewhere in between, so shopping for a mattress can be pretty tough. Ideally, you want to go to the store and try out the mattresses so that you can get the right one to suit you. You need to be thinking about comfort in the long term, not just how comfortable it is to lay there for a few seconds.
We know that mattresses can be a little pricey, but it’s an investment into good quality sleep that you want to make. It’s not worth getting a cheap mattress and having to replace it every couple of months when you get springs in your back. It makes far more sense to spend more money now and not have to go through this process multiple times in the near future.
Black Out Blinds Or Curtains?
When it comes to getting a good night of sleep, you don’t want the light from outside to be waking you up. Even though it’s night, there are street lamps and things that can see light coming through your windows and keeping you awake. It’s for this reason that you need to either invest in some blackout blinds or some high-quality curtains. Some people even choose to have both as this is an extra layer of protection from the light that really helps keep your room nice and dark.
Make sure that you measure before you make any purchases though, as the last thing that you need is to get the wrong size, meaning that they don’t do the job properly. This then means that you have to send them back and get replacements, which is a lot of hassle when you can just measure in the first place. If you’re worried about sizing or you can’t find the proper size online, then you can look into getting them custom-made.
Go Easy On The Electronics

A lot of people have their electronics in their bedroom, but this isn’t the wisest idea. When you go to bed, it’s best that you leave your phone and other electronics out of the room if you can. We know that some people need their phones near them for one reason or another, but at least make sure that it is on silent where possible so that it’s not disturbing your sleep.
Another thing that we’re going to say is that it’s for the best if you don’t have a TV in your bedroom. If you do have a TV and you find yourself unable to sleep, instead of continuing to try you are more likely to turn something on. This will wake up your brain rather than helping it to drop off which is the complete opposite of what you are hoping to achieve here.
As such, we recommend that you only have the bare minimum of electronics where possible. You will see a massive improvement in your quality of sleep, making your life so much better as you are more rested.
Where Are You Storing Your Clothing?
If you have a lot of clothes then you are going to need somewhere to store everything, unless you call the floor the wardrobe like many others do. Although the clothes may end up on the floor at the end of the day they still need to start their day in some form of storage unit. This could be a wardrobe that provides ample space for everything or a shelf with clothing rail underneath. There are always forms of storage for clothing to fit all budgets, it is just about finding the solution that works for you.
You can get complete furniture sets that match and make your bedroom look professional, contemporary, and stylish. Make sure you are shopping around as you don’t want to pay over the odds for furniture you can get cheaper elsewhere.
If you have a small bedroom with no room for a full-sized wardrobe or chest of drawers then you might want to look into getting a built-in set. These are built to match your bedroom so you won’t be able to take them with you if you ever move house. Bear this in mind if you do decide to get custom made furniture for your bedroom.
Other Storage Options
We’ve just talked about storing your clothing, but now we need to talk about storage for the rest of your items. You should be thinking carefully about how much space you have got, and how many items you have. Many people think that they don’t have enough space to add storage to their room if you are short on space, but there are some awesome creative storage solutions that you can consider. You can also get custom-made storage units that work for the space that you have available.
Some of your items you might want to have on display on shelves or on your dressing table, but there’s no need for other things to be out. Most of your items can be put away somewhere easily accessible without causing you any problems. If anything, it helps to keep your bedroom more clear, giving you a clearer mind.
Choose The Right Colour For You
When it comes to picking the right colour for your bedroom it is essential you think about colour psychology. This is when a certain colour has an impact on your emotions, for example, red could make you feel angry and worked up. Whereas, light blues and greens have been proven to help you relax and unwind after a long hard day. This is what you need in your bedroom as you don’t want a colour that will keep you awake at night.
The great thing is you can get small tester pots and colour charts these days so you can make the right decision. The last thing you want is to choose the wrong colour and then spend a fortune changing it. If you don’t want paint, then how about wallpaper? You can get some beautiful designs so you are sure to find something you like.
Those Little Comfortable Additions

You should also be looking into adding those little comfort additions to your bedroom so that you are comfortable when you walk in there. This means things like a shaggy rug by your bed that you can stand on first thing in the morning to keep your feet warm. It means having blankets and pillows on your bed and candles on the windowsill for example. It’s whatever you associate with comfort!
Photos And Memories
Finally, if you want your bedroom to feel more like yours then you will need to make it a bit more personal. This could include filling it with the things you like and are interested in, you could also stick some inspirational quotes on the wall. Wall stickers are wonderful as they aren’t permanent so you can change them whenever you want something different. Alternatively, if you have some photos that are a particular favourite of yours then you could put these up around the room.
You can get some really nice frames these days that come with wall mounts. If you don’t want frames cluttering up the free spaces and walls around your bedroom then another option for photos could be canvas prints. There are some great deals throughout the year on canvas prints, usually half price which is an amazing saving.
I hope that you have found this post helpful, and now have a better understanding of everything that you need to know about creating the perfect bedroom! You want your room to be perfect for you to fall asleep in, and this isn’t going to happen if you don’t put the care and attention needed into the design. Happy Sleeping!
