Synopsis
What would you wish for if you were granted three wishes?
For the first time she can remember, Poppy is dreading Christmas. Unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend after moving across the country for him, there’s nothing cheery about the festive season this year.
Dragged to a Christmas ball by best friend Layla, Poppy meets gorgeous actor Gabe, who stars as a genie in a play. When he asks her what three wishes she would make, she realises it’s quite simple: love, a job she’s happy in and, just once in her life, to do something extraordinary.
Gabe and Poppy make a pact to help each other make their dreams come true. As they tick off their wishes, their friendship blossoms… But, as they discover, sometimes, what you want for Christmas isn’t necessarily what you need…
My Review
I loved this book so much. The story centres around the main character, Poppy. After moving halfway across the country for her boyfriend, who then dumps Poppy just before the Christmas period – sighting his career being more important than their relationship. She is dreading being alone over the festive period and has no idea what to do with her life. Cheered up with a visit from her best friend Layla who drags Poppy to a Christmas ball.
This is where she meets the mysterious, flamboyant, and very gorgeous Gabe. She is instantly drawn to Gabe, but on discovering he is gay, they still form an incredible friendship and vow to help each other on making their dreams come true. The story follows the journey of Poppy and Gabe as they tick things off their list. But will this really make them both truly happy?
Poppy’s Christmas Wishes is such a beautifully written story, I adore the characters, especially Gabe – he is utterly adorable and such fun as a character. I 100% recommend this book to everyone – just beautiful.
