Synopsis

Anna and Will have been passing in and out of each other’s lives since they were just kids.

Now 20 years later, Anna is married – she has a lovely house, a stepdaughter in university, and a husband with a good job.

What she doesn’t have is joy. When she runs into Will it sparks something in her, a longing for the Anna she used to be.

Together they embark on a journey to find what brings them joy, to discard what doesn’t, and to become the people they always wanted to be.

But in finding themselves, can they also find each other?

My Review of The Girl I Used To Be

Anna and Will were once teenage sweethearts, hopelessly in love and living life to the full. Now 20 years later, life for both Anna and Will is very different. Anna is married to James, with a stepdaughter in University, and a lovely home – but what she doesn’t have are joy and happiness. Will is going through a divorce. But when they both unexpectedly bump into each other after 20 years, the familiar spark is still there.

The story is told from the perspective of both Anna and Will, and we travel back in time to when they were both younger, as well as the current time. The more time Anna and Will spend together, the more it is clear that they still have feelings for each other. Could this time be different for them both? Could Anna go back and be the girl she used to be?

The Girl I Used To Be is a story about love, loss, and sacrifice, which I think that many of us can relate to. I really enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
