Title: A Not So Quiet Christmas
Author: Suzie Tullett
Genre: Christmas Romantic Comedy
My Rating: 5 out of 5
Synopsis
A solo getaway at an English country cottage is a pleasant way to spend the holiday—but it takes two to really make things merry . . .
Antonia prefers a quiet Christmas. She’s happy to spend it on her own, watching Hallmark holiday movies in her pyjamas, eating what she wants, when she wants.
Antonia’s friend Jules, on the other hand, loves a big Christmas celebration and plans on travelling to the Yorkshire Dales for a festive break. But when Jules breaks her leg, she persuades Antonia to make the trip on her behalf. Arriving at the little cottage, Antonia meets the handsome property agent Oliver. But she can’t escape the weird locals—or avoid embarrassing situations like mistaking a cow for a burglar.
As Christmas approaches, the attraction between Oliver and Antonia grows. She could choose to return to the bustling city and spend it alone. Or she could choose love and have a not so quiet Christmas . . .
My Review
This story just totally warmed my heart. We are introduced to the main character, Antonia as she agrees to house-sit for her best friend Jules – who after an accident, finds herself housebound over the festive period. Antonia is a bit of an odd character – she doesn’t have many friends (only Jules), her job as a dog walker didn’t work out, and she doesn’t like Christmas – preferring to be on her own on Christmas Day.
When Antona arrives in Little Leatherington, the first thing she discovers is the people are not very friendly, which is fine by her, as she really is not a people person! The one person, however, who is friendly is Oliver – the local letting agent. Antonia and Oliver get on really well, and we start to see the chemistry between them developing. The more Antonia spends time in the small village and gets to know more about the residents of Little Leatherington, the more she starts to come out of her shell and enjoy the company of others – and even hosts a Christmas Day which for all her guests will never be forgotten!
We see the chemistry develop fully with Antonia and Oliver, but what will happen between the two of them when Antonia goes back home to London? A Not So Quiet Christmas is such a lovely festive read, with incredibly well-written characters and a lovely heart-warming storyline. A total must-read for anyone this festive season.
