Synopsis
Ex-dancer Emily Williams turned her back on the sparkle of popular dancing show Strictly Dancing with Celebs to help those in need. Now the only dancing she does is teaching lonely pensioners to waltz, and the closest she gets to disco balls is making baubles with the homeless people in her Christmas crafts class.
She’s certainly not star-struck when Hollywood heart-throb Blake Harris is sent to her at short notice for community service, and has no desire to babysit the arrogant actor with his bad-boy antics and selfish ways. Christmas might be a time for miracles, but Blake seems to be a lost cause.
But Emily’s reasons for abandoning her dancing passion means she understands the Hollywood wild child more than she’d like to admit. Could their time together, coupled with a dash of Christmas spirit, lead to a miracle change of heart for them both?
My Review
I am such a huge fan of Helen Buckley and having already read and loved Strictly on Ice, I knew I was going to love Strictly Christmas Spirit just as much, and I wasn’t wrong! We are introduced to the main character Emily. She used to be a dancer but now works as a manager of a community centre helping those less fortunate. Emily used to be a pro dancer on a popular dancing show but had to leave for personal reasons.
Blake Harris is a Hollywood actor and is sent to do his community service at the centre where Emily works. Emily is not a fan of Black and thinks he is arrogant and self-obsessed, and she certainly doesn’t have time to look after someone who is so rude and childish. As the story progresses, we see Blake’s attitude beginning to change, especially towards the clients who use the community centre as he starts to see he may have more in common with them than he first thought.
As Emily spends more time with Blake, she too also notices the change in him and we see the chemistry between the two of them really developing. With both Emily and Blake having past painful and emotional memories to come to terms with, can they really make each other happy this Christmas?
Strictly Christmas Spirit is such a wonderful romance story, filled with hope and love. A perfect and heart-warming read for this festive season.
