Synopsis

Welcome to the Beach Reads Book Club…where love is just a page away…

When Lottie Watt is unceremoniously booted out of her uptight book club for not following the rules, she decides to throw the rulebook out the window and start her own club – one where conversation, gin and cake take precedent over actually having read the book!

The Beach Reads Book Club soon finds a home for its meetings at Books by the Bay, a charming bookshop and café owned by gorgeous, brooding Matthew Steele, and as the book club picks heat up, so too does the attraction between Matt and Lottie.

If there’s anything Lottie has learned from the romances she’s been reading, it’s that the greatest loves are the ones hardest earned.

My Review

I am such a massive fan of Kathryn Freeman, and having read some of her other books, including Up Close and Personal, The New Guy and Mr Right Across The Street, I knew within a second I was going to absolutely love The Beach Reads Book Club. The story follows the two main characters – bookstore owner Matt and book club organiser Lottie.

When Lottie is thrown out of the stuffy book club she has been attending, she decides to set up her own club reading and reviewing books that are fun and with people who enjoy those types of books too. The only problem is, she doesn’t have anywhere to hold the meetings. That is, until she discovers Books by the Bay and asks the owner, Matt if she can hold the book club there. Matt, being instantly bowled over by Lottie, agrees before he realises what he has let himself in for.

The more Lottie spends time around Matt, we see the chemistry between them building. Not only does Lottie have a huge impact on Matt, she has a positive impact on everyone she meets – from all the new members of The Beach Reads Book Club to the other members of Matt’s family, who are grieving from the death of Matt’s mum. I loved seeing the chemistry and relationship building and developing between Lottie and Matt. But with both of them still hurting from past mistakes, can they really be happy together?

The Beach Reads Book Club is another incredible read from the fantastic Kathryn Freeman. Packed full of fun, friendship, love, laughs and Gin – this book is an absolute must read this summer. Thank you Kathryn for writing another fantastic story.
