As a blogger who spends a lot of time online posting on my blog and social media platforms, I have become more aware of how important it is to have a recognisable digital brand. Digital branding is so important because it defines who you are online. Being consistent with your branding allows people to find you easily in the online world. You might be a blogger, a freelancer, or a small business owner, having a strong digital presence has never been more important.

I have been thinking about giving my branding a little bit of a refresh – nothing too major, just a few small changes. So, if like me, you want to give your digital branding a spring update, follow my top tips to help you make the most of your online space.

One: Decide on your style

Deciding on the style of your branding is such a key detail. Do you want your style to be clean and minimalist, or pretty and playful? This can include everything from the layout of your blog and website, to the style of font you use for content to the colour palettes you are drawn to. If you are struggling to make decisions, Pinterest is amazing for inspiration and ideas. Take a bit of time and really get creative on how you want your style to look and feel.

Two: Be consistent across your platforms

Whichever platforms you use, you should always try to maintain a consistent look across all of your platforms. This includes your blog or website, but it also includes your social media platforms, email newsletters, and any other kind of marketing activity you do. Having a consistent branding across all your platforms helps create more of a personality about your brand. This in turn will leave your customers with a great feeling about you, your brand and your product.

Three: Small things can make a huge difference

There are many little things you can change with your branding that can make a huge difference. One thing I have been wanting to do is add a signature to the end of my blog posts. I know it will make a difference and add a bit more of a personal touch to my posts. I have been looking for different styles of fonts that I could use for my signature. Using something like a handwriting fonts site has given me so many ideas for different styles. I particularly love the cakepop style – this would fit in with my current digital branding perfectly.

Four: Go for it!

For some people, the idea of creating a digital brand feels like a lot of hard work. Having a strong and clear digital presence and brand is so important. Don’t feel put off by what feels like hard work and effort. Ask for advice and opinions from friends and family. Be brave and be bold with your decisions – this is your chance to make your digital presence shine bright.

Creating a digital brand is important, but it’s not something to get too stressed about. Follow my top tips and enjoy the creativity of creating a new look and feel for your online space.
