2020 really has been one heck of a crazy year for all of us. With lockdowns and social distancing now very much part of our everyday lives, every single thing about the way we live has been affected by the pandemic. Although it’s hard to imagine, Covid won’t be with us forever. Our lives will return to a level of normality again, although it will be a very ‘new’ normal for all of us. For now, we still have to live with the lockdown restrictions. However, with the news of a vaccine on the horizon, better days are coming.
I think the one thing all of us single guys and girls are wondering is what will dating be like once lockdown restrictions ease. For now, dating with social distancing restrictions in place just needs a bit more planning and thought than usual. Bit, don’t let that put you off having a have a fun date and getting to know someone new.
Virtual Dating – the way forward
There is no doubt that the world of dating will look very different for the first part of 2021 at least. The world of virtual dating has seen a huge surge in users through lockdown. As we are all spending a lot more time at home, why not give dating apps a go. It might not be the way in which you expected to meet someone. However, they can offer a great and unexpected way to meet someone new.
Date Safely
Once restrictions allow, and we are able to meet in person again, make sure you do this safely and follow all the social distancing measures correctly. Be mindful of maintaining the recommended social distancing and as hard as it may be, avoid hugging and kissing is off-limits for now! Try and be a bit creative with what you do on your date. Wrap up warm, grab a hot chocolate, and meet your date in your local park for a nice long walk. Or, if you both enjoy cycling, maybe go on a long scenic bike ride together.
Have Fun
Dating at any time can be a scary and daunting prospect, without the added complications of socially distanced dating or virtual dating! Being intimate with your date is just not possible with socially distanced restrictions, but that doesn’t stop you from building a connection with that person. Use the time to really get to know each other. Create a deep and meaningful connection – ask lots of questions. Laugh a lot together. Eye contact and laughter are two really important ways of showing connection without the need for actual physical touch. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Just have fun, be yourself, and relax.
Dating post-Covid might be dating in very unusual circumstances, but you never know what might happen – give it a try!
