Lockdown dating has been a whole new ball-game for all of us and very different than what we are all normally used to. Virtual dating and video dating has become the norm for many of us the last few months. Lockdown restrictions have now been relaxed in the UK. We are now able to meet up with people outside of our household – socially distanced of course. This means that lockdown dating is now actually possible. However, due to social distancing measures, a bit of planning and creativity is need to make for a fun date.
To answer the million dollar question that everyone is asking. How do you date and get to know someone when you have to observe social distancing? I have come up with a few fun and creative ideas for your first lockdown date.
With the beautiful sunny weather we having been having recently, a date in the park is perfect. With lots of open space, blue sunny skies and fresh air, what more could you want? Pack a picnic, blanket and a bottle of Prosecco and spend a few hours chatting and getting to know each other. Just make sure you keep 2 metres apart!
What could be a nicer way to get to know each other than a quiet walk in the peaceful and picturesque countryside? A long walk gives you plenty of opportunity to chat, ask questions and get to know more about each other. You may not be able to be physically close with your date, but you can still connect with your partner by getting to know them and what makes them tick.
If you are lucky enough to live near to a beach, this can make for a great socially distanced fun date. Sun, sand and the sound of waves – perfect for spending time together and getting to know more about each other. I always think walks along the beach are one of the most romantic things you can do. Add a walk into your beach date and really spent time connecting and getting to know more about the other person.
Building intimacy when social distancing
Getting to know someone by virtual dating is such a good way to get over those initial ‘first-date’ nerves. You may have used online dating sites, such as Bedfordshire dating site to meet new people during lockdown. Online dating sites including Tinder, Bumble and datebedfordshiresingles.co.uk have seen a huge rise users since the lockdown happened. It’s so good that we are now able to go on a socially-distanced date, but some people will struggle with the lack of intimacy and physical touch.
Being intimate with someone isn’t always about physical touching. It can be about creating a connection between each other. Really getting to know each other on a deep and meaningful level. Eye contact and laughter are two really important ways of showing connection without the need for actual physical touch. Taking the extra time now to get to know someone will help to create a much deeper connection. When social distancing rules allow, the physical connection will be so much better and enjoyable. I think a lot of people will find dating after lockdown much more fun and allow you to get to know someone on a much deeper level.
