I think it is safe to say that lockdown has affected us all in so many different ways. For me, I have been working from home for 11 weeks, which I really enjoyed it at first. As the weeks went on, I started feeling more and more tired and much less productive. I have now been furloughed which has come at just the right time for me. My first week of not working has been spent catching up on things at home, but also relaxing and reading. Thankfully, the lockdown restrictions in the UK have been relaxed a lot, which is amazing to be able to do some ‘normalish things again. But it got me thinking about all the things I really missed throughout lockdown.

One – Seeing my family
I have missed seeing my family so much. Both my sisters are key workers and have continued to do their jobs throughout the whole of lockdown, so I haven’t been able to see them at all. I can’t wait for us all to have a big family catch up and see everyone. We can then actually celebrate my sister’s birthday, which was at the very beginning of lockdown.
Two – Seeing friends
I am sure Im not the only one who has missed catching up with friends. Apart from not seeing my family, not seeing my friends has been one of the hardest things for me. I have done the zoom call catch ups and even a zoom pamper night with my friends, which was amazing. But I am a social person and zoom calls are just not the same as seeing friends in real life.
Three – Coffee and Dinner Dates
There is nothing better than catching up with friends over coffee and cake or even a dinner date. I miss just being able to grab a coffee and spend a Saturday afternoon catching up with a friend. I am very lucky to live near to Cheltenham which is so beautiful and has some amazing independent coffee shops and restaurants. Based right in the centre of town, The Find is one of my favourite places for coffee and people watching!
Four – Driving
This sounds a bit of an odd one, but I actually really miss my drive to and from work each day. I only have about a 25 minute commute to work, but I kind of miss it. I love driving with my music on and singing (badly I might add!) Music always puts me in a good mood, so I would always arrive at work feeling happy and energised, and I really miss my morning sing-a-long!
Five – Blogging Events
Like I said, I am a really social person and I love going to blogging events. Meeting and chatting with other bloggers is such a great way to build friendships of people who really ‘get’ me and love chatting all things blogging! I can’t wait to start going to these events again.
Six – Swimming
The first part of 2020, I had been focusing on exercising more. I went through a period of time where I really struggled with my confidence about going to the gym and exercise. Swimming is the one form of exercise not only do I enjoy, but I am actually really good at. I am missing swimming so much. It’s so relaxing, yet also really invigorating. I can’t wait to get my goggles on and back in the pool again.
Seven – Hugs and Cuddles
Social distancing has meant that hugs and cuddles just can’t happen and I am missing it so much. I am a very tactile person and hugging someone is my way of showing love, appreciation, thanks, gratitude. It’s jut the kind of person I am. I can’t wait for when social distancing rules allow us to be able to hug someone again.
