I turned 40 at the end of January, and for a lot of people, it is a huge milestone in life.
Hitting 40 for me hasn’t been that mid-life crisis moment, but a moment of reflection and realisation about the things I have learnt in my 40 years, and excitement for all the things in my life I still have to learn and experience.
- Never, ever let anyone tell you that you are worthless or useless
- And if anyone treats you like that, tell them to f**k off
- You are gorgeous and amazing just the way you are
- Accept the compliments when you are told that you are amazing just as you are
- Take all the risks
- Never, ever regret anything – even the bad things
- Just be yourself – don’t put on an act, or patent to be someone you are not
- Believe in yourself, and what you are and what you stand for
- Never let anyone tell you that your beliefs, opinions and morals don’t matter
- Keep smiling
- Don’t seek revenge – karma will do that for you
- You will find out who your true friends are
- And they will always be there for you, through the good and the bad times
- You might not always get on with your family, but they are family and will be there when the going gets tough
- You will have your heart broken
- But you are strong, and your heart will repair itself
- You will find that one special person – when you do, hold on to them tightly
- Never give up on your dreams
- Don’t believes everything you see on Social Media – its not real-life
- You are not abnormal if you are not married and settled down
- Confidence increases with age
- Or you realise that you just don’t give a damn what people think of you anymore
- Don’t change for anyone – ever
- You don’t have to get things right all the time – we are all human, and we all make mistakes
- You will not be everyone’s cup of tea, and thats ok
- People will come and go from your life, but the ones that matter will always be in your life
- Be kind and thoughtful
- Be humble and grateful for every thing you have in life – others are n to so lucky
- Love with all of your heart
- Staying in really is the new going out!
- PJ’s become some of the comfiest clothes you own
- Read all the books
- Listen to all the music
- Take time out when you need it, and never ever feel guilty for it
- Spend time with friends as often as possible
- Meet new people – get out of your comfort zone
- Love yourself for who you are and what you are – never change
- Sleep is one of your favourite hobbies!
- Try not to overthink things – you can’t always be in control of everything
- Life really is short – live life to the full every single day
