Synopsis
Georgie Henderson doesn’t want to have kids, but her best friend, Nina, has wanted to have a baby for as long as she can remember. Sadly, Nina’s uterus refuses to cooperate. One drunken evening, Nina asks Georgie for the ultimate favour: would she carry a baby for her? Georgie says yes and spends the next nine months wondering why.
With intense bacon-and-egg roll cravings and distant memories of what her feet look like, Georgie tries to keep it all together in her dream job as the editor of Jolie magazine. Her love life’s a mess – and sauvignon blanc’s off the menu – leaving Georgie to deal with twists in her life she never expected.
My Review
We are introduced to the main character of Georgie very quickly in the story. Georgie is a 30 something magazine editor, living life to the full with her friends and boyfriend – and definitely does not want children. Her best friend, Nina, however has always wanted children, and on a girlie night out, Nina asks Georgie the ultimate favour – would she carry her baby for her. Georgie agrees, and this starts a whole rollercoaster of emotions and events along the pregnancy journey.
The pregnancy journey for Georgie is not plain sailing and simple, and she ends up questioning a lot of things in her life, and is faced with huge decisions to make, that will not only affect her, but affect those in her life she cares about as well.
I really enjoyed this book, the twists and turns kept me wanting to read more, and not put the book down! I loved the storyline – I went through a whole range of emotions whilst reading this book – from laughing out loud to feeling quite emotional and teary. I would completely recommend She’s Having Her Baby to anyone for a real feel-good read.
