Why I love Swimming so much

Swimming Pool

As today is Swim A Lap Day, I thought that it would be a great time to tell you all why I love swimming so much, and why I think being able to swim is so important for us all.

I had swimming lessons why I was really young, and ever since then I have loved swimming and loved being in the water. I have always felt very confident in the water – I swam my first mile when I was aged 9, and I am a strong swimmer, so I know that if I got into any danger in the water, I would be able to get myself to safety.

I believe it is super important for all of us to be able to swim, and that children should be taught to swim from an early age, and understand the importance of being able to get out of any dangerous situations with the skills they have learnt through swimming. Sadly, we always hear in the media of children and adults getting into very scary situations in the water, especially in the summer time, and there being a very sad outcomes.

Apart from the safety side of being able to swim, I love swimming for the exercise. It is a great all-round exercise to do. I am not a natural when it comes to going to the gym – mainly through my lack of self-confidence, but I love swimming so much. I feel so relaxed when I am in the water, and would happily swim length after length all day long. I love swimming so much, that I have taken part in several charity swimming challenges – the most recent being the Aspire Channel Swim – swimming 22 miles over a 12 week period. I absolutely loved this challenge and because I was doing something I really loved, I felt so motivated.

Do you love swimming as much as me? Let me know in the comments.
