The Broadway Casino Italian Restaurant Review

I LOVE Italian food – in fact, along with Spanish food, it literally is my favourite ever, so you can imagine my excitement when the team at Broadway Casino in Birmingham invited me and my partner to try out their Italian Restaurant, based within the Casino itself. I was super excited as I have never been in a Casino before.

We arrived a little earlier than our table booking, but were kindly invited in and offered a relaxing drink at the bar area to wait. It was still quite early, so there wasn’t too much activity around the tables, but I was completely fascinated by it all.
We were shown through to our table by Roberto – the most efficient, knowledgeable and friendly Restaurant Manger ever. We had a beautiful table, looking out onto the tables. The décor of the restaurant is really amazing – the tables are all set up beautifully, with an amazing black and white floor and a black piano adding to the feeling of complete elegance – which I was really not expecting at all.
Roberto kindly bought us a glass of Prosecco each and some beautiful bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping, whilst we were deciding on our starters. The bread was out of this world delicious.
The Starters
There was a brilliant choice of starters, but I went for the Bruschetta and my partner opted for the Minestrone Soup. My Bruschetta was so fresh, with chopped tomato, basil and garlic (my favourite). My starter was prices at £3.95. My partner said that his soup was delicious, and I’m guessing from the fact that he polished it off super-quickly that it really was! Again, his starter was priced at £4.95.

We ordered a bottle of white wine to go with the rest of our meal, which was delicious – fruity and tangy and a perfect accompaniment to the rest of the delicious meal.

The Mains
I have to admit that I am not very adventurous with my food choices, and generally always stick to the same pizza or pasta dishes, but there was so many lovely dishes on the menu, I decided to try out something new to me. I ordered the Risotto al Funghi Porcini – I have only ever eaten Risotto once before, so this really was a new dish for me to try out. As it turns out, I made the best choice ever – the risotto was the most perfect delicious flavour, with porcini mushrooms, parmesan cheese and truffle oil – so light but packed full of flavour. My main was priced at £10.95.

My boyfriend ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, which he claimed was “the best he had ever had”. The Bolognese was packed full of flavour and taste and was priced at £11.95.

Desert

Usually I don’t order a desert as I am too full, but because we were not at all rushed, we both had time to let our main course go down, and free up a little bit of space for one of the incredible deserts from the menu.

I went for the Monterosa Cheesecake, which was a delicious light sponge topped with cream cheese and strawberries. This was such a light and delicious desert – it was incredible, and priced only at £4.95.

My partner went for the classic Tiramisu, which was a gorgeous mascarpone cream with coffee soaked finger biscuits. He said it was completely gorgeous, with a really light taste and texture. Again, his desert was priced at £4.95.

We were offered an Espresso, and to try out some Grappa. I have never tried Grappa before, so I was definitely up for trying it! Roberto said the best way to drink it, was to drink the Espresso, then tip the Grappa into the coffee cup, swirl it around and then sip it – wow, that certainly finished the meal off in style!

After we had finished our meal, we stayed for a while and watched some of the action on the tables. It had gotten a bit busier and it was really exciting watching the dram unfold on the tables.

The whole meal was out of this world delicious, and in all honesty, we both forgot that we were eating inside a Casino. The Restaurant was very impressive, serving quite incredible Italian meals and so competitively priced. The whole atmosphere was amazing, the food was incredible and service was outstanding.

A very special mention and a huge Thank You to the incredible Roberto, who throughout our time at the restaurant, was attentive, knowledgeable and so very friendly, making us both feel at ease and relaxed. Roberto is an absolute credit to the Broadway Casino and you can tell that he is so proud of what the restaurant offers. My partner and I had an amazing evening.
