Reflecting back on 2017

Here we are, the end of another year – I am sitting here writing this post and thinking how fast has 2017 gone, is it just me or does anyone else think this year has literally just flown by?
I guess this is the time of year that everyone sits down and takes time to reflect back on the year they have had. I thought I would do the same. Unfortunately, 2017 has not been the year I was hoping for – it has been full of heartache, upset and lots of unexpected things along the way – I genuinely do not want (and cant cope with) another year like this one has been.
Don’t get me wrong, there have been some really positive and really great things happen this year, but overall for me, the last 6 months of 2017 has literally been hell. I wont bore you all with the details, as I know so many people’s lives are complicated and people are suffering and struggling with their own personal battles.
Reading back over My 2017 Goals Blog Post, I can see their are some things I have achieved, which I am super pleased about, and there are things which I haven’t yet ticked off my list. That was the reason I made Goals to achieve in 2017, rather than making a list of New Year Resolutions, as in my mind, Goals are more achievable, but are always something to be working towards – there is no ‘end-date’ I suppose for achieving goals.
One thing I am very proud of is that I have put a lot more effort and hard work into my Blog in 2017 – even when things were really difficult for me, getting my laptop out and writing a blog post, was such a comfort and something that I found could take my mind off things – even for just a short time. I know that my little blog is nothing very fancy, or even very interesting, but for me, it is my little space that I am very proud of, and will continue to work on in 2018.
On a personal note, the one super positive thing I did this year was join Slimming World. I needed to get myself healthier, fitter and lose some weight, and through following the Slimming World Plan, I have lost over 4 stone. I have made some amazing new friends, who are so supportive every single week when I go to my group. I will be continuing to follow Slimming World into 2018 – I will keep you all posted on my progress – so keep a look out for an updates.
Something else really good to come out of 2017, is that I have found a job that I really love – I get to go to work everyday and really enjoy what I do, which has made me so happy, and feeling so much more motivated than I was before.
As the hours count down towards midnight, and the start of a brand new year, I wont be sorry to say goodbye (and good ridanace) to 2017, and when the clocks strikes midnight – I will be ready, full of hope, plans, ideas and goals ready for 2018.
Happy New Year everyone, make 2018 truly amazing
