If you have read my My 2018 Goals post, you will know that one of my main goals for this year is to go to the gym and get myself fit again.
I have been following the Slimming World plan for a while now, and I have lost 5 stone in weight, which I am super pleased with, but I still have a lot more to go. One thing I need to do, and I know will help me a lot, is to add in some exercise, which I know will help boost my weight loss and help tone me up.
I have been a member of my local David Lloyd gym for quite a while now, and although I go swimming quite often, I definitely don’t make use of all the amazing facilities that my gym has to offer. If I am being honest with you, the real reason is because I have been suffering with a massive case of Gym Fear. The fear of being judged for what I look like, the fear of looking stupid because I cant keep up with the others during a class or I get all the moves wrong, or I don’t know how to use the equipment correctly.
The feel of looking stupid is holding me back from achieving a healthier and happier me. I’m not alone though, as gym intimidation is causing genuine anxiety in many people. The fitness app – Aaptiv have created the below infographic for those of us struggling with gym fears, and how to overcome those concerns.
The above tips are super useful for planning my gym visits and helping me to feel like I am not stupid, and that I’m not the only person feeling this way. Gym Fear is a real thing, and its about how I move forward and manage my fear of the gym, so instead of cancelling my class at the very last minute due to worrying about what people will think of me, I need to ben going into the class with my head held high, and enjoying every single second, because ultimately, I am there to achieve my goal of becoming a healthier and happier ME!
To help you all achieve your healthier and happier you goal, you can download Aaptiv from your app store today.
