My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the newly opened Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham on their Spa Paradise package. The package included a 55 minute treatment at the Shakina Urban Spa based within the hotel.
The spa is spotlessy clean and beautifully decorated and is the perfect area of peace and calmness for an hour or two of utter relaxation and bliss.
After completing some health related forms, we were shown into the Dual Treatment Room and each went through a consultation with our therapists. I loved the fact that my boyfriend and I would be having our treatments in the same room together. My boyfriend chose the Hot Stone Massage (which is said was amazing) and I went for the Espa Skin Purifying Facial.
During the consultation, my therapist, Stacey carried out a sensory test to determine which products my body needed. I was given several products to smell and whichever one I was drawn to, determined what my body and skin was craving. I chose the Hydrating Floral Toner and the Balancing Facial Treatment Oil, which Stacey advised me meant that I had normal/combination skin but that my skin was dehydrated (not dry, which is a different skin type altogether)
Stacey began the facial by removing any eye and lip makeup with the Bio-Active Eye Cleanser, and then undertook an initial skin cleanse with the Hydrating Cleansing Milk. My skin was then analysed under a skin vision lamp to identify any key areas of concern and the collagen levels in my skin. From this, Stacey chose the Balancing Foam Cleanser for the second cleanse – this felt like the most luxurious product on my face – so silky and smooth and with a beautiful light scent.
My skin was then exfoliated with the Refining Skin Polish to remove any dead skin cells, and then toned with my earlier selected choice – the Hydrating Floral Toner. Stacey then carried out a pressure point facial massage using the Balancing Facial Treatment Oil I had chose earlier. This was so relaxing and I had definitely drifted off at this point. The Essential Cleansing Mask was then applied to my skin, and whilst this was working its magic, Stacey carried out a scalp massage using the Pink Hair and Scalp Mud. This was one of the most sensational and relaxing things ever.
The face mask was removed using heated mitts, a Serum was applied to my skin, along with the 24 Hour Replenshing Eye Moisturiser, the 24 Hour Balancing Moisturiser, the Optimal Skin Pro-Defense Moisturiser and Lip Balm to leave my skin looking and feeling smooth, calm, refreshed and with a beautiful healthy glow.
Stacey was a fantastic therapist, explaining every step throughout the whole treatment and providing me some fantastic tips and advice. I have never used any Espa products before, but all the products used in the treatment left my skin looking and feeling so smooth, refreshed and calm – Espa is a brand I will defiantly be trying out again in the future.
Both my partner and I had received amazing treatments at the Shakina Urban Spa, and we cant wait to book in again as soon as we can!
